Charles Wayne Radda

RADDA, Charles Wayne, Oct 2, 1931 – Jul 29, 2012. Age 80 years, Omaha. Charles was born to Frank and Blanche (Sevic) Hnizdil at their farm home near Sterling, CO. He was raised and adopted by his uncle and aunt, Paul and Anna (Sevic) Radda. He lived in Omaha except for 1950-1954, when he served in the United States Marine Corps as an aerial navigator. Among other recognitions, Charles was awarded an Air Medal with two oak leaf clusters for meritorious actions in combat during the Korean War.
On June 5, 1955 he married Joylea Rubink in Sidney, IA. To this union 5 children were born. After graduation from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1957, he began his 30-year career with Northern Natural Gas Company. He retired as Group Vice President-Finance from the successor corporation, Enron, Inc.
Charles loved his family very much and each one was very special to him in their own unique way. He was preceded in death by both sets of parents; brothers, Paul L. Radda Jr., Frank Hnizdil Jr., and Thomas F. Hnizdil. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joylea; their 5 children and spouses: Roger and Karla Radda of Urbandale, IA, Carol and Jesse Gonzales of Colfax, IA, Alan and Karen Radda of Sharpsburg, GA, Leighann and Michael Shanahan of Omaha, Eldon and Kim Radda of Wellsville, KS; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul and Betty Hnizdil of Greeley, CO and Vernon and Karen Hnizdil of Eaton, CO; 3 sisters: Ann Marshall of Windsor, CO, Adeline and Kent Johnson of Longmont, CO, Violet Christopherson of Casper, WY; many many nieces and nephews; Northern Natural Gas retirees; other family friends.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE Wednesday, 11am, West Center Chapel. Private Interment, Bohemian Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Nebraska Humane Society.
